I'm in the technology field, and I hope projectors peak in the price. I thought I did not expect a gift of quality and feature set to sell for $ 300.00. I looked at 3M and others, but none come close to this 1920 lumen projector Pico slider. I got mine about 3 weeks and I use constantly. Anyone can see it as "I'm so getting one." I think that came along with the necessary cables to connect your laptop to connect. In other departments, was an extra, like things. I bought the iPod connector kit, so I can see my iPhone to connect. Looks great with the video on my iPhone. Please note that an extra battery in the connector kit iPod / iPhone for projectors and PK101/102 PK201. So bascially I'll ebay the battery. Software ArcSoft Media, I'm so happy. I tried to capture video to your profile Arcsoft PK201 as it does not work in unity. If I convert the same file using ArcSoft's Profile PK101 (low bit rate video), the file will play in PK201. I have an open support with them, but really the problem Arcsoft. I worked for about but according utilzing additional software for this work. Long story short I have done extensive research on oblasti Pico projectors, this is by far the best because of its brightness, input capacity, resolution and ability to play content on their own (built-in Media Player). This is one of the things most important to me when I was looking Pico projector. I also said that uses Micro SD, so I can hold up to 16 GB of memory. It is great, only when the device without a connecting cable and a movie or play a PowerPoint project. I've never written a review before and I hope you will help choose Pico Proejctor.

Very preliminary review ... Will be amended significantly over time ... 

1. VGA output from connection to portable laptop: Adequate due to focusing problems, i.e. unfocused image across the breadth of the projection which comes from a distance of approximately 12' in this case. Furthermore, focusing the image adequately with the roll knob is somewhat difficult. However, if the operator fiddles long enough with the focus, one can generally see a clear image over MOST of the projection if the projection is nearly perpendicular to the wall with minimal skew. 

2. Thermal: A purchaser wouldn't want a micro projector producing greater heat. As it is, the heat isn't too much of problem so 20 lumens is about maximum for micro projectors using LED DLP (currently) and passive cooling. Employing laser diodes instead of LEDs is an option for micro projectors, but I'm unsure which option has the greatest luminosity per unit of thermal output. 

3. Luminosity: The projector is barely acceptable at 20 lumens. Unless one restricts the usage of their micro projector to nighttime hours, don't buy a micro projector with a rated output less than 20 lumens. The projection from the PK201 can be seen in a room with some INDIRECT exterior light so the brightness is acceptable. 

4. Battery life: Marginal at best. Buy another battery as a spare. You'll need it. 

5. The power switch is too small. 

This review basically consists of my first impressions so the PK201 likely be reviewed upward from a rating of 3 to 4 as I fully explore the capabilities of this projector. Although, I initially thought about returning the PK201 due to the difficulty in focusing and the minimal life of the battery, I've decided to keep it as one can get a readable image across MOST of the screen if the aforementioned precautions are followed and one can always purchase an additional battery. The PK201 is a good micro projector and worth $300, but the difficulty in focusing and the minimal life of the battery detract from its usefulness. More later ...

The projector works great and is much brighter than I expected. I thought it would only work in the darkest rooms but it can be used reasonably well in any typical indoor environment. I also use it to replace an older projector that I didn't want to buy a new lamp for and find it to be essentially equal in performance. Watching movies on the ceiling at night is also cool. 

The only issue is that battery life is limited so you will want to have an extra available to watch a movie. Also, there is no "keystone" adjustment so it is best to have the projector set up pretty square to the wall you are projecting on. But overall, the compact size and cool factor outweighs these minor inconveniences.

Awesome projector, video encoding software needs work

This thing is amazing! Great resolution, compact and excellent build quality. The on-screen menu and micro SD slot are all welcome additions. I put on an episode of Top Gear in HD on it and another officer on my ship watching commented its as good as his flat screen at home. My only complaints are the lack of iPod adapter, extra battery (both of which came with the Pk101) and the video encoding software. The software took a 600mb .mp4 file (that the projector said wasn't supported) and increased it to 1.4gb! I recommend using HandBrake (it's free), use the iPhone setting and bump the resolution to around 640x352 (what I had the TG episode play at). Aside from that, I'm very happy with this projector.

Nice improvement over earlier models

Had the PK201 for about 3 weeks now. 4 1/2 stars. The brightness has much improved. I love that I can now connect just about anything to the PK201. Hopefully the rest of the cables/adapter will be available soon. Battery life is poor, at about an hour. But I mostly keep this plugged in all the time. I wish the screen was just a little bit bigger. 70" easy with good clarity. The focus wheel is much better, not loose like previous models. Great for travel and hotel rooms. Even with some light ambient lighting you can see the picture fine. Best with complete darkness. 

**** Update **** After a lot of use I've noticed a few things when compared to other PK models. First the projection screen on the 201 has a smaller footprint on the wall. I'm unable to get the entire screen to focus. Areas remain blurry no matter what. 101 had better focus. Get the PK301, really impressed with that model. Bought one myself.

That's projector, not protector. But geeks will rejoice nonetheless. The pocketsize projector has been the Holy Grail of gadgets for many years, and now we've got it. 3M sent us one of their firstsamples of their MPro110 mini projector a few weeks ago (but asked us to keep it on the down-low for a while). I immediately plugged it into a DVD player and watched Blackhawk Down on my desk—literally, on it, as I aimed it at my white Ikea desktop. (Ah, to be owned by a Swedish company.) It also worked on the wall, on a piece of 8.5-by-11-inch printer paper and on the back of my colleague, Doug.

3M had been planning to make a formal announcement in a few weeks, which is why we held off talking about it. But their German division got so begeistert about the new product that they just spit out their own announcement.

Images were discernable up to about 11 inches across, even under our bright fluorescent office lights. But they were definitely faded. And some movie scenes were downright indecipherable. The same went for photos. I'm pretty sure the prototype 3M loaned me at CES in January was brighter as I was able to demonstrate it during a presentation under bright lights to a few hundred people. But I'll have to do more tests to know for sure. (Even if it's less than ideal, kudos to 3M for making it work.)

In a dark room, it could project a big enough image to be the ultimate cheap-o home theater. The projector will sell for a mere $359. It doesn't have a speaker, so you'll have to get that separately. But really, how good could a microscopic speaker jammed into this thing sound, anyway?
The MPro110 is pretty basic looking on the outside—just a grey box. But it gets the job down. A VGA input lets you plug in a laptop; and the composite video jack will take output from a digital camera, PSP, iPod, iPhone, or most any handheld device (though video-out is still pretty rare on cellphones). A thumbwheel on the front allows you to focus.

So many companies have been promising pocket projectors with exotic technologies—from Microvision with its lasers and microscopic mirrors, to Texas Instruments with DLP chips (and lasers) to Light Blue Optics with holograms (no kidding). It's funny that 3M just swooped in and grabbed the market while its competitors still haven't gotten past trade-show demos. They made do with an LED lamp and little LCoS screens—a variation of the LCD tech that's been in digital projectors since the early days.
